Coby, Petro, Mitch and I decided to go riding this morning in Corner Canyon on the Ann's trail loop after our successful first ride on it last time revealed it was much shorter a ride than we thought.  We got started around 730, it was a half hour later than we had planned (because i was late and Petro left his front wheel at home) but it was 30 minutes earlier than we needed.  it was 53 degrees when we started this morning but once we started up clarks trail it warmed up enough for use not to notice.   Very little sweating this morning.  It was a great ride with nothing special to report:  About 50 minutes to complete, 4.75 miles and about 850 feet of total elevation gain.  For the full report and the trail map, click here.

We had three GoPro Cameras and there will eventually be a video...so that's something to look forward to right?  Right.

Location.  Location.  Location.  Actually, more like views.  This Saturday, Mike Tom, Petro and I decided to try out a section of the newly opened Ann's Trail in Draper, Ut in the corner canyon area.  If you need a trailmap, click here.  I've found that finding them online is pretty tricky, mainly because they change so fast.

I didn't take very many pictures because we didn't stop on the trail at all (mike) but I'm glad we didn't at the time.  The new section of trail is a fun up and down ride like mid mountain or the crest.  In fact, this ride is kind of a mini-crest in the sense that you climb strait up (in this case Clarks Trail) and then stay high, cutting out early to bring to the same place you left or continuing on to go onto a dedicated downhill into another outlet.  We went up Clarks, took a right onto anns near the top and rode that to traverse ridge road, on your right are three trails, uphill, downhill center and downhill right.  I'm not sure what the other two are but down right (the well established singletrack) is Potato hill which leade back the the BST which leads back to Coyote Hollow and the car.

Here is mike surveying the valley.

So, Mytracks got a little wonky at the end when we broke mach 4, but if you follow along you can see basically how we did the trail.  you will notice there are two tracks, one goings south and one north, you are not seeing things.  When we finished with the Anns loop we were fresh and the conditions were right.  Tom, Mike and I decided to go up clarks one more time and show Mike the good times that can be had on the rush trail.  All in all i would guess we rode about 8 miles or more.  It was a really good ride and I would recommend this shorter anns loop to anyone.  It only took us like 45minutes total for each trail for an hour and a half total ride time.  Check out the video above, and in high def on youtube.  Or download it from the mobile section.

Its looking borked.  There was enough rain this afternoon that unless it brightens up and drys out by 5 (unlikely) that riding the trail we had planned would be irresponsible.  I was tinkering with the idea of doing Mormon flats tomorrow morning though.  All in favor?

The ride today is weather pending.  I will keep an eye on the storm and we will decide before 5 if its looking good to ride.

Tomorrow post work we are going on a ride on a newly cut section of trail called the draper trail network called the Draper Rim trail, or more accurately the Anns trail short loop.  It should be about 5 miles of good riding.  Meet at this location at 5:00 P.M. and we will shuttle up together as many as necessary.  Should take about 2 hours or more depending on how many people are riding and how ambitious we feel.

Or translated "Dog Lake" thank you very much Android auto-correct.  So its been a while since I have updated the URC.  That isn't to say that the crew hasn't been busy, we have, but its mostly been riding corner canyon/rush/ghost falls so there hasn't been much news worthy riding to post.  Good riding, just nothing you haven't heard before.  To see a map of the most recent ride, click here.

This Weekend though we went to Dog Lake with a few URC virgins and a few veterans.  Tom, Eric, myself and our newest crew member, Mike.

Its been said before but its worth saying again, Upper millcreek canyon has some of the best riding I have ever done.  If you want to know what Velvet hero dirt feel like, ride the Dog Lake Trail.  Its UNREAL.

Riding up the steeper part of the trail, the GoPro Catpured this image and I made it pretty with Photoshop.

The great western trail can be accessed via this trail.  This is where you come out from the crest if you go strait at the 4 way instead of down.  This is the trail we took last time we did the crest.

From Dog Lake you can see Reynolds peak in the background (fun in the winter) and access upper Mill D from Big Cottonwood canyon.

The ride was good but it had been so long since i had ridden from the parking lot up and i got lost a little (see the map) which meant that we went strait up a section of trail that is usually a lower degree easier paced ride.  as a result we waited a little while about half way for recovery, but we all made it to the top.

It was a lot of fun and im hoping we can do more of the same before it gets too cold.

Another Candid GoPro Still, Mike enjoying the perfect weather and hero dirt.

Check back for a video soon.

Personally, I think its too early to start celebrating the demise of summer and the arrival of winter, but the ski movie releases and Halloween candy at the stores says otherwise.  If you are in the market for new ski gear, steepandcheap.com will be selling nothing but ski gear from 10-2 today MST.  They used to have a site for it, tramdock, but i guess its gone.  Anyway, I know they are selling AT boots and probably some skiis too.  Check it out if you are in need of new gear.
